We live in a global village. Every day we see images of people living in situations of extraordinary

hardship and suffering. In our better moments we all want to change the world. Distance,

busyness, apathy, cynicism, self-centredness (to name a few) can make it hard to think and act

beyond our immediate concerns.. Deep inside we long to do more for others., to live lives that

make a difference for good. How are we going to do this?

The Hawthorn-HEAL Africa Partnership is one way to tap into and act on this desire.

The mission of this partnership is to change the world for the people of HEAL Africa and the

people of Hawthorn through relationships of mutual respect, service and economic

interdependence.

In Melbourne we will:

1. Involve as many in our community as possible

2. Advocate on behalf of people of the DRC,

3. Fund raise to support specific projects

4. Learn from the people of Goma

5. Travel to Goma to serve

In Goma, HEAL Africa will:

Provide holistic care for the people of the Democratic Republic of Congo:

1. Training health professionals

2. Strengthening social activists

3. Providing physical, spiritual and social healing
