WHAT IS MAINLY MUSIC
Mainly Music is a fun music, songs and physical activity programme for young children and their parents (or other carers) to enjoy together.
The programme helps children have fun, socialise with adults and other children, and develop gross and fine motor skills, language, imagination, mathematical and pre-reading skills. Children are introduced to music and creative activities, and families are given an opportunity to think about the God-part of life.
Mainly Music was first developed in Australia and New Zealand in 1990, and has been running in the Wood Hall since 2011, conducted by Christ Church Hawthorn volunteers.
WHEN DOES IT RUN?
Mainly Music runs on Monday and Thursday mornings within school term dates, from 10am to 11:15am, in the Wood Hall (6 Wood Street, Hawthorn).
WHO CAN ATTEND?
Children from birth to age 4 are welcome to take part together with their parents.
WHAT DOES A SESSION LOOK LIKE?
A Mainly Music morning starts at 10am with about half an hour of structured music-based group activities, followed by morning tea for both the children and adults, moving into a relaxed time for children to play together with play equipment in our delightful tree-shaded courtyard and with toys inside the Wood Hall.
HOW MUCH DOES EACH SESSION COST?
Each session costs $5 per family per morning, paid in advance for a whole term.
HOW CAN I CHECK IT OUT?
Due to high demand for this fabulous programme, we currently (2019) have a waiting list for both Monday and Thursday sessions. A trial session can be booked for you to visit a session, before deciding to go on the waiting list, using the contact form below.
