WHAT IS SHINE?
Shine is the new after-school club on Thursday afternoons, run by Christ Church Hawthorn. Following a pilot program in December 2018, we plan to run throughout 2019, within school term dates.
WHO CAN ATTEND?
Children of primary school ages are welcome to attend Shine. Children attending other local schools are also most welcome to participate. They would need to travel promptly from their school to the Wood Hall. Parents are most welcome to attend at any time.
WHERE AND WHEN DOES IT RUN?
Shine runs from 3:30pm to 5pm on Thursday afternoons, in the Wood Hall (6 Wood Street; corner of Wood and Denham Streets) and in the adjacent child-safe courtyard.
For children who are currently enrolled at Hawthorn West Primary School, we invite parents to authorise the Shine leaders to collect their children directly from the school at 3:30pm, and then the parents can collect their children from the Wood Hall at the conclusion of Shine, between 5pm and 5:30pm.
WHAT HAPPENS AT SHINE?
The program generally includes afternoon tea, games, craft, singing and basic mainstream Christian / Bible input, and is led by qualified, authorised and certified leaders, all holding current Working with Children Checks.
HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?
We invite a donation of $5 per child per session.
