HALL HIRE
There are two halls available for hire at Christ Church Hawthorn: Wood Hall and the Memorial Hall. Both have kitchens, and access to a lovely courtyard.
Wood Hall is the smaller hall, on the corner of Wood Street and Denham Street, with the official address 6 Wood Street Hawthorn Vic 3122. It is often hired for children’s parties and other gatherings, and is generally available for hire during weekday evenings, any time on Saturdays, and some Sunday afternoons. There are also a few times available during the day on some weekdays. There is a well equipped kitchen for your use.
The Memorial Hall is the larger hall, fronting Denham Street, with the address 2 Denham Street Hawthorn Vic 3122. It is often hired for concerts, larger parties, larger group classes, wedding receptions etc. It is currently available for some times Monday to Saturday, and occasionally on Sunday afternoons. The kitchen is large and well equipped, installed new in 2017.
The Courtyard is between the two halls. It is a very pleasant space featuring trees and play equipment for young children. By arrangement, the hire of either hall usually includes the use of the Courtyard.
Enquiries for regular on-going bookings are welcome, for example for a music class etc. These halls are church halls, and are available for hire for purposes that are not inconsistent with a Christian church.
Covid-19 impact: If you hire a hall and have an activity or event, it is your responsibility to comply with Covid legal requirements such as about the numbers of people present, hygiene measures, recording attendees, etc. In the unlikely event that government regulations required comprehensive cleaning of the hall after your event, because of Covid exposure at your event, then we would require you to pay for that comprehensive cleaning.
