We run Mainly Music on Mondays and Tuesdays, starting at 10am.

WHAT IS MAINLY MUSIC?

Mainly Music is a fun music, songs and physical activity programme for young children and their parents (or other carers) to enjoy together. Please note that Mainly Music is not “an activity for young children”. Rather, it is “for young children with the active participation of their parent(s) / carer(s)”.

The programme helps children have fun, socialise with adults and other children, and develop gross and fine motor skills, language, imagination, mathematical and pre-reading skills. Children are introduced to music and creative activities, and families are given an opportunity to think about the God-part of life.

Mainly Music was first developed in Australia and New Zealand in 1990.

Teams of church volunteers have been running Mainly Music at Christ Church Hawthorn since 2011.

WHEN DOES IT RUN?

Mainly Music runs on Monday and Tuesday mornings at 10am, within school term dates.

It is held in Wood Hall (6 Wood Street, Hawthorn - enter from Wood Street), also making use of our lovely Courtyard.

WHO CAN ATTEND?

Children from birth to age 4 are welcome to take part together with their parent(s) and/or other carer(s).

WHAT DOES A SESSION LOOK LIKE?

A Mainly Music session has nearly half an hour of structured music-based group activities. After this, families are invited to stay for morning tea and a relaxed time for children to play. There is no official finish time. Most families usually depart between 11am and 11:30am.

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?

We invite families to commit to, and pay for, a whole term. The fee for a term is calculated on the basis of $5 per family per morning.

HOW CAN I Try it?

Families are always welcome to attend for an initial trial session. Subsequently, you may wish to enrol for regular participation. At times of high demand there may be a waiting list.
